Infant Swimming Resource, survival swimming lessons for children 6 months to 6 years.  Serving Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Venice and surrounding areas...

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is a nationally recognized system of aquatic survival instruction for infants and young children.  The program focuses on educating parents and children about aquatic survival and safety issues.

Since 1966, ISR has safely delivered over 7 million lessons to teach water self-rescue skills to more than 177,224 babies and has educated parents and medical experts nationwide on water safety techniques and proven instruction methods. To date, ISR has 788 documented cases of children using ISR techniques to save themselves from drowning.

Please remember that there is no substitute for adult supervision.

Instructor Training

ISR Instructors are the most highly trained and qualified instructors in any swimming program in the country and must undergo strict re-certification testing annually.  Each instructor is academically trained and tested in areas such as child psychology, physiology, anatomy and behavioral science to provide the safest lesson possible for your child.  In addition, each instructor spends a minimum of 60 hours hands on, supervised in-water training working with actual students.

ISR Lessons

ISR lessons are for children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday.  Approximately 10 minutes in length and taught at your child's emotional and physical pace, averaging 4-7 weeks in length.  The lessons are always gentle and individualized, eventually taught with clothing; because it is imperative children know how to make adjustments to their skills when fully clothed.  Most importantly ISR lessons are always given with safety as the top priority.

ISR lessons are not scary (OK, maybe for the parent at first.  But it is your job to present swim lessons in a positive light and be careful not to reinforce any negative behaviors)

The program does not “throw children into the water".   ISR students are never thrown in the water.  No child should ever be thrown in the water and doing so is potentially dangerous.

Learning self-rescue skills requires work on behalf of the child and parents. ISR children and parents commit to lessons 5 days a week for 4-7 weeks, adhering to all ISR protocols, paperwork, etc.  Seeing your child become an aquatic problem solver makes the commitment worth it!
