I have enjoyed a love for the outdoors and athletics since my childhood. Upon graduating from college with a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology, I married my husband, Dave. Shortly thereafter, we moved to Sarasota. I worked at the Sarasota County Head Start program as the Social Service Coordinator. I have three children, Parker, Paxton and baby Ingrid who is currently refining her ISR skills. When Parker was born I was concerned that our home had a pool in the backyard and knew I had to enroll him in swimming lessons. I researched many programs and found Infant Swimming Resource to be the most effective and safest lessons. The experience I had with ISR was so profound that I decided to pursue becoming a Certified ISR Instructor.
It is a vision of mine and all ISR Instructors to see “not one more child drown”. My job is not only to teach your child self-rescue and swimming skills but to create in our community an awareness of water safety. I am personally and professionally committed through public education to promoting a steadfast vigilance around all aquatic environments. I make myself available for speaking engagements and enjoy sharing drowning prevention information and the ISR methodology with the community
I have truly enjoyed watching my children’s aquatic skills grow, from being survival floaters to survival swimmers and currently emergent aquatic athletes. It takes time and dedication for your child to become an aquatic problem solver and my hope is that you too can experience what I have with my own children through this program.
ISR instructors undergo intense training prior to becoming certified and are recertified yearly. We have continuous academic training which includes areas such as child psychology, physiology, behaviorism and development, early childhood education, anatomy and physics. I maintain certification in First Aid and CPR infant/adult (AED) by the American Heart Association. Additionally, this year I am joining an elite group of Instructor who will be pursuing our Master Instructor Certification.
